MFA Thesis: IN//ACCESS//ABLE

In//Access//Able challenges our understanding of the window grate. These objects cover the windows of the structures that exist in our world. A window grate denies access and protects interior spaces both institutional and domestic. I question who is allowed in, are we safe from those we are keeping out, and what can I make these objects say when abstracted, rendered non-functional. I wrestle with these questions through making and a deep understanding of the history and tradition of Metalsmithing.
