Fabricating Histories- Thesis 2012
My work tells stories that comment on the traditions and practices of
the lineages I feel a deep kinship to. My
work is often critical and inquisitive of ideologies of craft through my
understanding of metalsmithing and research into the history of this field, as
well as the greater discourse of craft.More recently my work investigates the history of my family. In
the same way that I make work about metalsmithing, I
am now doing the same with my own kin. I
am investigating our objects that have been passed down through generations and
am deciphering their intimate objecthood: their condition of being an object,
their intended use, and what associations we evoke from these objects.
